Stanway Lodge is not your average B & B. It offers a unique farm stay experience, where you can get to meet a whole host of friendly animals: donkeys, sheep, cows, dogs. Our two dogs are extremely friendly, though not in your face and will not hang around once they have been introduced. (If you are not an animal person or suffer from allergies, perhaps Stanway Lodge is not the right place for you to stay.) You can interact with the donkeys who are extremely friendly, and if you have never met a donkey before you may find yourself pleasantly surprised how gentle and loveable these little animals are.

The owner is also a keen arts and crafts person, and you are welcome to look in the studio where many different craft projects are at different stages of development: lead light glass work, jewellery, and various other items of a quirky nature are offered for sale.

Visitors may wander around the garden, through the native bush (stout shoes required, this is dense bush, not tracked,) or simply relax in our sunny conservatory.

Stanway Lodge is situated 20 km’s  north of our nearest town, Feilding, and because of this distance we invite you to join us for dinner, if you wish.  This is a simple home cooked evening meal, often a roast or BBQ using our own home grown lamb or beef, plus delicious dessert.

To find out about our Donkey Retreat, click the button. We offer a unique experience, where you get to know the donkeys and learn all about their grooming, care, and wonderful personalities. You don’t need to be a guest at Stanway Lodge to come to the Donkey Retreat.
